Quick Take: Seahawks vs Steelers Week 2 Results
DK revenge game. Aaron Rodgers slinging for a new squad. On the road in a hostile environment. The entire sports media world saying we’d lose… this one felt like the odds were all stacked against us. And I couldn’t be happier with what I saw on the field!
What I Liked Seeing
Run Game Sparked by K9
Kenneth Walker finally looked like the version we’ve all been waiting for. That burst! That explosiveness! It shocked me in the best way. I hope this version of the Seahawks run game keeps showing up. I’d love for this to be the core of our identity as a team!
DK Shut Down
I love that DK downplayed the “revenge game”. Everyone knew he wanted to put a hurt on our defense… and he definitely had some internal desire for that too. I’m sure his diary heard his true feelings about it, but all we got was a PR answer pre-game from him about not hyping it up. One network I saw predicted that DK would put up 230+ yards on us. Fun stat of the day: he ended with less yards than any of our receivers. I’ll take that. And so will DK.
Hustle Riq!
Watching Riq chase down Warren on that huge gain was the definition of “want-to.” That hustle led directly to an interception in the end zone. That’s the step forward I’ve been hoping for from him. While his coverage remains a liability depending on his desire in a particular game, I love that the “rookie” version of Riq showed up today!
Smart Defensive Coaching
Loved the awareness on that jump ball that bounced off Kendrick’s facemask. Instead of going for a risky pick, our defender swatted it down since it was 3rd down. That’s the attention to detail I was really hoping for last week. Great job to the coaches in getting these guys ready!
Grey Zabel = Problem
This dude is a monster. He took care of all of his assignments and made it look easy! Can’t believe we have this guy on our team! The guard drought feels like it’s finally coming to an end!
Looking Ahead
This game amps me up for what’s next. Next week for my birthday the game is against a struggling Saints team, then a quick turnaround for Thursday Night Football. Couldn’t ask for a better birthday week than 2 Hawks games! If today was a preview, we’re about to see a different Seahawks squad than the one we started the season with. Let’s keep this feeling rolling!!
